Connected to space: Robotto to increase the safety of critical infrastructure

Heat and electricity plants are shifting from coal to alternative sources with many turning to Biomass. While biomass is a verified sustainable heating and energy alternative, it elevates risk levels as unregulated rising temperatures in stored biomass presents an increased fire risk as seen by the recent 34-day fire in Roskilde, Denmark. Utilizing GPS coordinates, Robotto’s technology will aid site safety and security professionals to mitigate risk by utilizing intelligent robotics to monitor and analyze both the volume and temperatures of stored biomass.

The grant signifies the achievement of a strategic growth step for Robotto, enabling the prize-winning software company to use intelligent robotics to solve yet another large global problem- ensuring the safety of critical infrastructures.

In action from the start

Working in partnership with a Copenhagen-based heat and power plant, Robotto is able to ensure not only usability but also a direct increase in site safety. Increasing site safety allows critical infrastructures to continue to supply sustainable heat and energy to local communities without the elevated risk biomass inherently presents.

"We want to harness the power of intelligent robotics to improve the world we live in today. This is why we’re proud to be working with the ESA and our local partner to ensure the safety of critical infrastructures here in Denmark and around the world.” Says Kenneth Richard Giepel, co-founder and CEO at Robotto.

Autonomous drones in Energy

The implementation of the solution marks a first in the energy sector, where our local partner leads the heat and power industry with intelligent and autonomous drone solutions powered by the new DJI M30 Drone in a Box solution powered by Robotto’s intelligent software. As this solution has yet to officially launch, the project will begin testing in November of this year, with an aim of a fully operational solution in Q1 2023.

Biomass monitoring is but the first of many intelligent robotic solutions Robotto aims to develop for the energy sector.

“At Robotto we’re passionate about using our technology to help organizations succeed in their green transition by finding solutions to new problems by applying intelligent robotic technologies.” Explains co-founder and CEO at Robotto, Kenneth Richard Giepel.

About Robotto:

Roboto is a prize-winning Danish intelligent robotics company established in 2019. They develop smart software to enhance the capabilities of robots across multiple industries. Currently, their software saves lives with smart firefighting drone software, search and rescue drone software, and supports wildlife conservation efforts with autonomous elephant tracking, reducing fatalities due to wildlife-human conflict. Robotto’s software improves work processes across industries, allowing organizations to work smarter- not harder.

About ESA:

The European Space Agency (ESA) is Europe’s gateway to space. Its mission is to shape the development of Europe’s space capability and ensure that investment in space continues to deliver benefits to the citizens of Europe and the world. ESA is an international organization with 22 Member States. By coordinating the financial and intellectual resources of its members, it can undertake programs and activities far beyond the scope of any single European country.
